- Introduce your visual in the text beforehand.
- Use visuals that support your message. They must have a clear connection to the text and the section you have put them in.

Action captions form part of the description of your visual element. Every image or table should be labelled as “Image 1” or “Table 1”, with sequential numbering throughout the document. Have them check your action captions: are they accurate and concise?
